Our staff members are pleased to provide an enriching, developmentally appropriate early education experience for the young children at Avenue Preschool.
100% of our teaching staff members hold Department of Education Certification for their position or above. We regularly attend professional development training, education conferences and in-house training sessions. All staff members are certified in CPR/First Aid.
Paula Yeich: (Director)
Paula Yeich began working at Avenue Preschool in 2016 as our Director, and has been involved as a preschool parent for the past three years. Paula has a B.S. degree in physical and health education, with a background in teaching and administration. Prior to working at Avenue she taught in the Caesar Rodney School district and was the Director of the Wellness Center at the Modern Maturity Center for eight years. She volunteers in the Milford community and has also been a coach. Paula and her husband live in Milford with their two children Taylor and Evan, and their dog. In her free time she loves spending time with her family and friends. Paula values the opportunity to guide Avenue Preschool, with its established reputation as a quality early childhood education provider for our community's children.
Cindy Mackesey: (Curriculum Coordinator and Beginners Teacher)
Cindy Mackesey has been working at Avenue Preschool since February 2008 and is currently the Curriculum Coordinator as well as a Teacher in the Beginners program. Cindy is originally from Latham, New York, and has lived in Milford with her husband and two sons for over 20 years. Cindy holds a Department of Education certification as an Early Childhood Curriculum Coordinator, Administrator and Teacher. She also holds a B.S. degree in Elementary Education and an A.S. degree in Human Services/Teaching, with certification as a Teacher of Early Childhood through grade 4. Cindy enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading, swimming and going to the movies.
Belinda Bahder: (Pre-K Teacher)
Belinda M. Bahder has been part of APS since her children attended over 25 years ago. She started working at APS in 2001 as a teacher assistant, then began teaching in the Pre-K program in 2005. She is certified through the Department of Education as an Early Childhood Teacher. She and her husband have lived in Milford for over 25 years. They have 3 grown children, a daughter-in law and son-in-law, two grandchildren, and an adorable dog, Bethany. Mrs. Bahder enjoys spending as much time as possible in Bethany Beach and loves to sew, scrapbook, read and most of all, spend time with her family.
Shelley Sapp: (Pre-K Teacher)
Shelley Sapp is a teacher in our Pre-K program and has been working at APS since 2010. She is certified through the Department of Education as an Early Childhood Teacher and holds an A.S. degree in Early Childhood Education. Mrs. Sapp and her husband Richie have four great guys: Jesse, Cody, Riley and Brodie, all of whom attended Avenue Preschool. Mrs. Sapp's hometown is Newark, but she now lives in Harrington.
Matthew French: (Pre-K Teacher)
Matthew French started as a parent volunteer in 2008 when children began attending. In 2010, he served as a part-time administrative assistant. and in 2012 Mr. French joined the APS teaching team. He also previously served as a member of Avenue Preschool’s board of directors. He holds a Department of Education certification as an Early Childhood Teacher. Mr French enjoys spending time with his wife, Joanna and his two children, Erin and Sean going camping, fishing and hiking.
Disa Crew: (Pre-K Teacher)
Disa Crew has been working at Avenue Preschool since the fall of 2017 as a Pre-K Teacher. She previously worked at Morris Early Learning Center in the Milford School District for several years as a para-professional.
Adrienne Brozefsky: (Beginners Teacher)
Aridenne Brozefsky, or Mrs. B. as the children call her, has worked at Avenue Preschool since 2012 and has been in the early education field since 2004. She was born and raised in Milford, DE and is a former student of the preschool. Mrs. B. holds a Department of Education certification as an Early Childhood Teacher and Curriculum Coordinator. She has three lovely children, all of whom attended Avenue Preschool. When she is not teaching, she enjoys spending time at the beach.
Diane Lank: (Beginners Assistant Teacher)
Diane Lank has worked at Avenue Preschool since 1969, helping support the early learning of over 1,000 children in our community! She lives in the Milford area with her husband. They have a son, daughter and grandson.
Laura Speicher: (Pre-K Assistant Teacher)
Laura Speicher has been teacher assistant at Avenue Preschool since 2013 and has worked in education locally since 2002. Mrs. Speicher holds a Department of Education certification as an Early Childhood Teacher. She grew up in Milford, but now lives in Dover with her husband and young son. Mrs. Speicher loves spending time with her family and friends and going to the beach, gardening and going on fishing trips with her dad. She says she enjoys working with the children and staff at Avenue Preschool and feels truly blessed to be a part of the APS family.
Abigail Carmean: (Beginners Assistant Teacher)
Abigail Carmean started working at Avenue Preschool in September 2016 as a substitute and volunteer when her youngest son was attending. In February 2017 she began as a teacher assistant for the Beginners program. She holds a Department of Education certification as an Early Childhood Teacher Assistant. Mrs. Carmean and her husband have three sons, all of whom attended APS. She enjoys vacationing with her family every summer in Massachusetts, where she grew up. She also has a cosmetology degree and enjoys doing hair in her salon at home. Mrs. Carmean believes that one of the greatest rewards of teaching young children is watching them grow and learn.
Sidrina Rucynski: (Beginners Assistant Teacher)
Sidrina Ruczynski has been a preschool parent since 2012, and served as a long-term substitute before beginning as a teacher assistant in 2017. She has an associate's degree in accounting and holds a Department of Education certification as an Early Childhood Teacher Assistant. Mrs. Ruczynski has three children--Nicholas, Abby and Anna. She is a hockey mom and loves ice skating, going to the Renaissance Faire and getting dressed up in costumes. Mrs. Ruczynski lives in Milford and is happy to call it home.
Michele Engelsiepen: (Pre-K Assistant Teacher)
Michele Engelsiepen began working at Avenue Preschool in the fall of 2018. Prior to working at Avenue, she taught kindergarten in the Milford School District for 31 years. Mrs. Engelsiepen is certified through the Department of Education as an Early Childhood Teacher and holds a Master of Education degree. She and her husband Ray live in Milford, and she loves spending time with her family and friends. Mrs. Engelsiepen enjoys stamping, reading, relaxing at her pool and working with the staff and children at Avenue Preschool.
