Drive-by Meet the Teacher Day prior to the first day of preschool
Since we are unable to hold our typical "Meet the Teacher Day" inside the preschool, we will hold a Drive-by "Meet the Teacher Day." This will take place on Wednesday, September 9th between 10:00-11:00. **Parents will receive a letter in the mail or via email containing the specific time your child's class will be able to drive by! During this time, your child can see their teach and we will hand the parents some important paperwork as well.
We look forward to having you and your child join us!
Parent Virtual Zoom
prior to the first day of school
Since we are unable to hold a face-to-face parent information night, we will be conducting these info sessions on Zoom on Thursday, September 10th. **Parents will receive a letter via mail or email with the your specific time on that date. Parents will have the opportunity to speak with your child's teacher and the preschool director, and ask any questions you may have.
(updated 6/29/20)--Due to increasing cases of Covid within the State of Delaware and changing guidelines we have decided to postpone graduation that was scheduled to be held June 30th. We feel this is in the best interest of all families and staff to keep everyone safe. We will update as soon as we have things planned out.
If you have questions regarding any of the following, please contact:
Avenue Preschool Director: Paula Yeich @ 302-270-6620 or
Avenue Preschool board presidents: Garrett Grier @ 302-462-7673 or Dan Rothermel @ 302-542-1158
Due to COVID-19 concerns, we have decided to postpone Pre-K graduation. We feel this is in the best interest of all families and staff to keep everyone safe. Updates will be posted on the website and Facebook if graduation is able to be held at a future time.
Due to COVID-19 concerns, Avenue Preschool will not be holding summer camp during the summer of 2020.
In accordance with Governor Carney's directive for all Delaware schools to remain closed through May 15th, Avenue Preschool will remain closed for the rest of the current school year.
No tuition will be charged for April & May 2020
Teachers will continue to reach out to our current families with suggestions for online/at-home learning tools throughout the remainder of the school year.
We are hoping to organize a day for students to come back to school to spend time with classmates and their teacher. We also hope to coordinate graduation for our Pre-K students. Details will be dependent on Covid-19 updates from the Governor's office. Once decisions are made, Avenue Preschool will communicate details to our families.
We are planning to hold several summer camp opportunities beginning in June, with details communicated as soon as they are available.
Updates will continue to be posted to our website and Facebook.
Questions?--Contact Avenue Preschool's director, Paula Yeich, @ 302-270-6620 or leave a message at the preschool office @ 302-422-8775 (messages checked regularly).
We have become aware that a parent of a student at Avenue Preschool has tested positive for COVID-19. The health and well-being of our students and staff is our highest priority.
During the school closure throughout the state, we will be using this time to do a deep clean of our facilities.
Should you or someone within your household or family develop symptoms such as coughing, fever, and shortness of breath, you should contact the Division of Health at 1-866-408-1899, Bayhealth Hospital at 303-422-3311, or your primary healthcare provider.
Please remember to adhere to Delaware Division of Public Health’s guidance of limiting social contacts while practicing social distancing, and finding alternative ways to greet people as well as practicing good hand and cough hygiene.
Due to COVID-19 concerns, we made the difficult decision not to hold summer camps in 2020. Our summer camps are very popular and we hope to bring them back in 2021 with some fun offerings for the children!
Summer camp is available for children who have completed the current school year at Avenue Preschool. Registration begins in the spring annually.
To give you an idea of some of our past themes, the 2019 camp schedule was as follows
Week 1 (June 3-7, 2019): Dinosaur Camp
Week 2 option #1 (June 10-14, 2019): Let's Grow Some Fun
Week 2 option #2 (June 10-14, 2019): Under the Sea
Week 2 (July 16-20, 2018): Fun at the Fair
Camps take place from 9:00-12:00 Monday through Friday. They include snacks, materials, fun crafts, outdoor activities and special events. More details can be found on the "Programs" page of the website.
Avenue Preschool's annual Open House is typically held in the spring each year although families are welcomed to tour our facility at any time during the year. Currently we are unable to hold tours or our Open House based on precautions being taken due to COVID-19 safety measures.
Once we are able to hold an Open House, details will be posted here on our website, on our Facebook page, in the Avenue United Methodist Church Bulletin and their Weekly E-News.
At Open House, children and their parents/caregivers join us for an informal hour of visiting classrooms, meeting staff, touring the facility, and experiencing a day in the life of a child here at Avenue Preschool. No RSVP required--we simply hope to see you there!
If you know of someone who might like to attend, please help spread the word and invite them to the Open House.
Details about the following events will be posted on the website, or the Avenue Preschool Facebook page, and/or information will be sent home with our students!
